RETAIL DESIGN
The practice has been involved in retail design since its foundation.
As architects we bring an understanding and awareness to ensure the best use of the space available for the particular retail objective on hand. We have developed a much acclaimed skill in the progressive use of materials, colour and lighting to create the perfect contemporary retail environment
DIXON HEMPENSTALL OPTICIANS
Dixon Hempenstall has been a client of the practice from the beginning. Their outlet in the Square in Tallaght demonstrates the practice’s great understanding of the retail market.
The unit successfully becomes its own shop window with display units designed by Tony O’Neill visible from the shopping mall. The up-market product for sale is reflected in the quality of the materials used. The lighting is designed specifically to display the spectacle frames at their best.
MEATH STREET CREDIT UNION
This award winning shop front and interior reflected a move into a more sophisticated era for the Credit Union.
KAWASAKI DISTRIBUTORS IRELAND SHOWROOMS
The beauty of the bikes was the first thing that struck us when the practice was asked to renovate an existing industrial building to accommodate new assembly space, warehousing and showrooms for the company. We removed one side of the building and attached a 3 dimensional steel frame based on the size of a motorcycle which allowed the most number of bikes to be displayed.
HAYES CONYNGHAM ROBINSON
Prior to being bought out by Boots, Hayes Conyngham and Robinson commissioned the practice to refurbish their chain of chemist shops. Their flagship premises in Grafton Street, Dublin was the first. This deep and narrow shop was transformed into a journey through attractive individual spaces that started with the cosmetics department at the entrance and progressed through the roof lit toiletry department and the gift department to the pharmacy that was a shop within the shop. Counters and display units were designed by furniture designer Tony O’Neill. For the Henry Street branch, we collaborated with designer Tony O’Neill to produce a prototype counter and display units which were to become the image of Hayes Conyngham and Robinson.
